Easter Weekend 2011: Preparation Is Key

I was so excited about this Easter. I had been looking forward to it since last Easter knowing that this year Mac would be walking and able to hunt eggs. But we were not going to just any thrown together egg hunt. No. We were going to Pearl's Easter Egg Hunt. See, what makes this hunt so very special is that Pearl used to baby sit me when I was a toddler. Pearl and JC are long time family friends and just as close to being grandparents to me and my brother as you can get without actually being blood related.

I remember so many of Pearl's egg hunts and I would not have missed this years hunt for anything. It meant to much to me for Mac to hunt in that same front yard that I had played in so many days of my life and to hunt eggs in the same spots that I had hunted in years ago.

This was going to be Mac's first attempt at hunting eggs so in order to prepare him we had a practice run in the living room when we got to my parents house on Good Friday. My Dad helped him with locating the eggs, putting them in the basket and showed him how to open them to check for candy!

First you have to "hide" the eggs.

Then you find them, pick them up and put them in the basket. And Repeat!

Of course at some point you have to check out your haul.

Of course, at some point during egg hunt training you have to take a break to play with your mom's old toy mop...

Practice went well. I think we may have a future professional on our hands! He has already progressed to hunting with two baskets!

To Be Continued...

Catching Up...

Session is over, well it will be in 5 days, and I have time to blog again! I am excited about getting to catch up on all the pictures I have of Mac and telling the stories that go along with them. It's been almost 3 months so there will be plenty of new posts coming soon.

I need to catch up on the picture taking now that my life will be given back to me in 5 days. I have not been home to see Jimmy or Mac before bed time in 2.5 weeks, only seeing them in the mornings, very briefly. Session is so hard by it's self but then you add a husband and then a child into it and it's almost unbearable. But only 5 more days until the Senate adjourns Sine Die and I will get to see them both again regularly like normal people!!

I will get to see my friends, I will get to travel home to Mt. Pleasant, I will get to return to week night softball and batting practice in 5 more days!

In order not to overload you with the cuteness and sweetness you are about to have to endure with all the catch up posts coming here is a little teaser picture.

See you soon!

Mother's Day

Every second of this...

was worth every second of this.

Mac, being your "ma ma ma ma" is the most amazing thing I have ever had the privilage and honor to be. You bring out all the best parts of who I am and who I never realized I could be. You make me smile everyday without fail. I absolutely love being your Mother...

How To Put Pajamas On A Baby

An illustrated tutorial.

Grab a baby, some pjs and the babies leg.

Tighten your hold because they get kinda squirmy.

Put the first foot into the pj leg.

Watch out for the Pj Duck n Roll maneuver. To counter act this make sure you let the babies leg roll IN your hand until it reaches the calf area of the leg then clamp down to stop the roll. Do Not Let Go Of The Baby.

Once the Hand Clamp has been applied the baby will go down.

But not for long, the baby will rally so remember work to try and work fast.

Keep trying to get that first foot into the first leg of the pjs

Now after you get the first foot into the pjs and you realize the pjs are on backwards do not give up. Just keep trying.

Remove the feet from the pjs.

Take a moment to regroup.

Once your composure has been regained feel free to start again from a different position.

The baby will try to implement the Duck n Roll again but from this position you should be able to counter and get the baby on his back.

Once you get the baby on its back you are good to go. The baby will generally conceed at this point and all you need to do is finish the job.

Don't be disheartened by pouting, this is natural just get those feet into the pjs.

Once the feet are in stand the baby up.

Put his arms into the sleeves.

Start zipping him up...

Angle is everything for the zip. You will have to find the angle that works for you and baby.

Congratulations! You have successfully dressed your baby (or grandbaby) for bed!

Now let go and see what happens...
