Sitting Up and Almost 6 Months

Mac is sitting with assistance these days!! May 31st was the first day we was able to sit by himself! We still have to help him, if he leans to far back he can't catch himself but he is pretty good about not falling to one side or the other.

The first two pictures are from May 31st...

This is from June 4th... I took a picture this morning but I brought the wrong cable for the camera so I can't upload it! :( oh well, there's always tomorrow!
The pictures are a little blurry since he is a little wobbly right now!

Mac will be 6 months old on June 17th!! I can't believe it. Where has the time gone?! I am a little bummed out though because of a scheduling faux pas his 6 month well check will not be until July 19!! When I realized this I called to move the appointment and his doctor is booked solid. We were suppose to start solids after this appointment and now I am not really sure what to do; wait or go ahead. I am leaing towards going ahead. I think I will get some oatmeal and have him practice with that next week and then we will try some pureed veggies and fruit. We are going to try and make our own baby food and by "we" I mean me and my bestie Melinda. She bought a book and food cups for him 3 months ago!! Talk about a prepared friend!

  1. I would not wait until July 19... everything I've read says six months (or earlier). But I know how you feel about wanting to get your doctor's approval.

We started feeding Eli rice cereal a few times a week just before he five-month birthday. He never really liked it, but it was good practice for him to eat with a spoon (although often, I would just add some rice to his last bottle before bed). This weekend, he tried oatmeal for the first time and liked it much better. And last night, we had his first veggie — sweet potatoes — and he did pretty good with those. I plan to make two or three more kinds of baby food tonight for him.

If you want, I'll make you a copy of the handout my doctor gave me yesterday at Eli's six month appointment. He goes to Dr. Ari Brown, who wrote the Baby 411 book (aka my Baby Bible).
